“We are the Arctic Monkeys, we are from Sheffield,” proclaimed vocalist Alex Turner as the band filled the stage and opened into ‘Brianstorm’ from Favourite Worst Nightmare. The band’s unique, somewhat heavier, indie sound was a perfect introduction to The Black Keys headlining set that was to follow. While they are still building a following in the U.S., the Arctic Monkeys have been a sensation in their U.K. homeland from the beginning, charting a pair of #1 hits from their 2006 debut Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not. They’ve also seen each of their four albums hit #1 on the UK charts.
